WELCOME to Behind the Lens, a feature that shines a light on the talented photographers in our Guardian Camera Club group.
This week, Lynzi Blake shares some of her favourite photographs.
Lynzi, who has lived in Winsford for 25 years after moving from Kingsley, loves taking pictures of her daughter and niece and when she goes for a walk she usually ends up by the water taking photos.

When and why did you take up photography?
My dad loved photography. I remember him having an Olympus camera when I was younger but due to deteriorating eyesight he changed to cameras that were point and shoot. That’s when I started taking pictures on family holidays. I have taken photos since then and I rarely leave the house without one. In 2022, I decided to do a photography course and it really improved my skills. Also in that year, my dad found out he had mesothelioma (aggressive lung cancer) and he passed away. My love of photography really helped through this time and took my mind off things.
What do you love about taking pictures?
I love picking up my camera and going for a walk, usually ending up by water. There is always something different to photograph - you are just there in one moment of time with nothing else on your mind. I’ve had three of my photos published in the calendar for the Friends of Winsford Town Park and St Luke’s Hospice – it’s always nice to see your images in print and great to support such worthy causes.

Where is your favourite place to take pictures and why?
I will take photos of anything, anywhere!
What is your favourite subject matter and why?
I do love water. I’m going to go try and visit some waterfalls this year and photograph them. My daughter Jorja and my niece Alana are good models for me too.

What do you enjoy about being part of our Camera Club on Facebook?
I like the challenge of the weekly themes and seeing other people’s interpretation of the same theme. They’re always so different.
If you could photograph anyone/any place/anything, who/what would it be?
I would love to take a photo of the aurora borealis.
