PARENTS have been warned to expect disruption as roadworks get underway.
Work has started today (March 5) on upgrading traffic lights in Hartford.
The lights concerned are at the junction of Bradburns Lane, Chester Road and School Lane.
This work is expected to take around 10 days, prompting The Grange School to issue a warning to parents.
“The traffic lights at the junction of Bradburns Lane, Chester Road and School Lane are being upgraded, with works scheduled until March 15,” read a post on the school’s Facebook page.
“This will cause significant disruption, especially at peak times, please allow extra time to get to both the junior and senior schools.”
Cheshire West and Chester councillor for Hartford and Greenbank, Martin Loftus, explained that the traffic lights have reached the end of their operational life span and need to be replaced.
This is of particular concern as the current lights use halogen bulbs which are no longer manufactured, and so sourcing spares is becoming increasingly difficult.
The works are scheduled to continue until March 15, during which time temporary traffic lights will be set up.
Cllr Loftus said: “The centre of the village is likely to suffer even more congestion than usual, especially at peak times.”
