A MAN has been fined at court after being caught with pepper spray in a village.
Andrew Lawson, of Juniper Close, Holmes Chapel, was found in the village with a weapon which could discharge PAVA spray on June 12.
PAVA is a synthetic pepper spray and is used by police forces and prisons across the country.
The 40-year-old was charged with possession of the weapon and appeared at Crewe Magistrates Court on February 26 where he pleaded guilty to the offence.
Taking his plea into account, magistrates fined Lawson £120 and ordered the PAVA spray be forfeited and destroyed.
Lawson must also pay court costs of £120 to the Crown Prosecution Service and a £48 surcharge.
