MUSIC and laughter filled the air on a quiet night in Whitegate as the community came together for an event combining the excitement of bingo with the energy of a disco.
Whitegate CofE Primary School's hall was transformed as 'Bonkers Bingo' took over on February 9.
Organised by the Friends of Whitegate School (FOWS) team, families enjoyed a party atmosphere at the Cinder Hill school.
Head teacher Caroline Mackenzie, who prepared a home-cooked chicken curry to help keep energy levels up, was delighted with event and FOWS' ongoing support for the school.
She said: "We are incredibly fortunate to have such an engaged, supportive and enthusiastic team of parents who really do go above and beyond to help not only raise funds for our school community but also contribute so much to the family-feel that makes Whitegate Primary School such a special place.
"Thank you also to the many members of staff who give up their time so willingly to join in with all these events throughout the year."
The FOWS team, along with staff members from the school, were on hand to take table orders for drinks and food, which also included classics such as pizza and chips.
Prizes on the night included an inflatable cow costume, ably-modelled by a member of staff, a talking toy donkey and a mechanical sweet-grabber machine.
The event was a hailed as a roaring success, with one child saying it was 'the best party ever'.
