Multinational company supports Cheshire’s local community

Thor have been an integral part of the local community ever since  relocating from their Manchester based site in 2002.

“Alongside our commitment to supplying our customers with high-quality components, we also sponsored the 2023 Cheshire Business Awards and have presented awards at local schools,” explains Scott Betts, Technical & Regulatory Director at Thor. 

Below, Scott outlines the expertise of the company, their products and services, and the support they provide to the local community.

A range of novel chemical solutions 

Thor’s expertise is the manufacture and supply of high-quality biocides – chemicals that provide safe, effective protection against microbiological spoilage in a wide variety of water based products.

“Biocides are an integral aspect for the preservation of quality materials,” shares Scott. “Disinfectants are another major branch of our product range. As an integral component to water-based home care products, swimming pools, medical equipment, major contributor in the fight against COVID 19 as well as foods and beverages.

“ Alongside our biocides and disinfectants, we also supply a specialist range of flame-retardants and personal care ingredients to  industry. Our flame retardants  serve in military applications, airline and other transport-based  fabrics, and speciality textile applications. Our personal care business provides preservative and other ingredients that are added to produce an array of cosmetic products such as wet-wipes, creams, shampoos and lotions.”

Decades of experience 

As well as having their company base in the UK, the Thor Group maintains various manufacturing plants and technical facilities in Germany, Mexico, China, France, Spain, Italy, Brazil, Japan, South Africa, Malaysia and the USA. “Our products are used in small addition levels, and without the correct dose many of our client’s products will biodegrade. That’s why we are on hand to provide assistance with quantity levels, technical work, preservation aspects and research programmes.
