SPOT the Dog is coming to Northwich this half-term.
The popular children’s book character will take to the stage at The Grange Theatre as part of a national tour.
Spot’s Birthday Party, by Sam Bradshaw Productions, is based on the books by Eric Hill and features a variety of interactive party games and original songs.
Tom Frith, artistic director at The Grange School, said: “It is really exciting to be welcoming this national tour to our theatre.
“We want to provide local audiences with work which is of a standard that they would expect to see in Manchester, Liverpool or the West End.
“It looks to be brilliant fun, it’s quite interactive so all the children will really get to feel like they’re actually at Spot’s birthday.”
There will be four performances of Spot’s Birthday Party at The Grange across February 22 and 23.
With the show lasting just under an hour, Mr Frith believes it offers an “accessible” first experience of theatre for young children.
“It’s easy to provide entertainment for adults but we also want young children to be able to experience theatre,” he said.
“I was seven when I first saw a professional theatre production and I have been drama-focused ever since.
“You just can’t beat live performance”.
Mr Frith added: “It’s the perfect activity for half half-term.
“Coming to the theatre isn’t just about running in as the curtains open but about arriving early, having an ice cream, and getting some sweets as anticipation builds ahead of the performance.
“After the show, there will be the opportunity for photos with Spot.”
Tickets are on sale now via The Grange Theatre website, priced from £15pp.
