AN inquest has been opened into the death of a man hit by a car while riding a mobility scooter in Northwich.
Emergency services were called to the scene in Chester Way, near Lidl, following the collision involving a white Hyundai IX20 at around 6.35pm on Friday, December 29, last year.
At Warrington Coroner's Court on January 24, area coroner Victoria Davis confirmed the man killed was 38-year-old Curtis Richards, of Church Road in Northwich and formerly Liverpool.
After the crash, a 53-year-old Northwich man was arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving, but he has since been released under investigation pending further inquiries.
Ms Davis told the court, while she was opening the inquest into Mr Richards' death, it would be suspended due to the ongoing police investigation into the collision.
A date for the inquest hearing will be confirmed on conclusion of the investigation.
A Cheshire Police spokeswoman said at the time: "The driver's next of kin have been informed and they are currently being supported by specialist officers.
"Enquiries in relation to the incident are ongoing and officers are keen to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision or anyone who believes they have any dashcam footage of the incident."
Anyone with information or footage in relation to the collision is asked to call Cheshire Police on 101, quoting IML 1723990, give the details via cheshire.police.uk/ro/report or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
