WELCOME to Behind the Lens, a feature that shines a light on the talented photographers in our Guardian Camera Club group.

This week, Jen Tucker and Terry Dixon, who have been together for nearly ten years, share some of their favourite photographs.

Terry, who lives in Knutsford, and Jen, who lives in Hazel Grove, have JenTex Photography and both enjoy being part of Guardian Camera Club, sharing ideas and getting inspiration from other members.

When and why did you take up photography?

Terry: I bought my first Dslr (Canon EOS 500d) in 2015. I am a music producer and realised the physics of sound and light are very similar which gave me another creative outlet.

Jen: I always took pictures, from being a young child, my nan documented life on the Farm where they lived in the Lakes and encouraged me to do so too. I always used point and shoot cameras until during Lockdown when we decided to learn how to take it off auto and work together on becoming more professional and being more creative.

What do you love about taking pictures?

Terry: I enjoy the process, transformation and creativity of seeing something either with my eyes or in my mind and making it a reality.

Jen: Documenting life, exploring new places, meeting new people, taking shots and the satisfaction of seeing a successful picture.

Where is your favourite place to take pictures and why?

Terry: I don’t really have a favourite place. I frequent some places more than others based on convenience and how much spare time I have. Being a full time carer for my housebound disabled mother, I have to take opportunities when I can.

Jen: I just love being out and about, relaxing with the deer at Tatton Park is always a highlight.

What is your favourite subject matter and why?

Terry: The subject for me is the least important aspect. Even the most mundane or abstract things can be appealing when framed, lit and coloured creatively.

Jen: We are very diverse. We don’t identify as portrait, landscape or any other style. I do love architecture, particularly crumbling or abandoned buildings

Terry: I enjoy seeing how others perceive the world and the friendly, creative community spirit.

Jen: Seeing what others are doing and giving us ideas of where we can go.

If you could photograph anyone/any place/anything, who/what would it be?

Terry: I would like to take more pictures of people naturally being themselves but in respectful, creative ways that they can enjoy and feel proud of.

Jen: I’d love to go to Iceland, shoot the interesting landscapes, buildings, wildlife and the Northern Lights.
