THE body of a man has been found in a Weaverham street.
Police were called out to Keepers Lane at around 9.15pm last night (December 28) after concerns were raised for the welfare of a man.
On arrival, officers cordoned off part of the street, near to the junction with Forster Avenue, while an investigation was carried out by forensic officers.
It was confirmed a 38-year-old man had died at the scene.
A Cheshire Police spokeswoman said: "At around 9.15pm on Thursday, December 28, police were called to concerns for the welfare of a man in Keepers Lane, Weaverham.
"Officers attended the scene and found that the 38-year-old man had sadly passed away.
"Formal identification is yet to take place but the man’s next of kin have been informed.
"There are no suspicious circumstances and a file has been prepared for the coroner."
Shocked residents reported seeing a large police presence in the street after the man's body was discovered.
One resident said: "It's a pretty quiet community so something like this is quite a shock to the village.
"At about 9.15pm a massive police presence turned up at the bottom of Keepers Lane.
"Forensics officers were there and cordoned off the scene. A police van was put across the pavement.
"They were there then for three or four hours."
