A MAN was found dead in a Northwich marina.
Cheshire Police were called to Uplands Basin Marina on November 23 following reports that a body had been seen in the water.
Unfortunately, 73-year-old Richard Shenton was recovered from the water and pronounced dead at the scene.
A spokesperson for the police said: “Shortly after 3.10pm on Thursday, November 23, police were called to reports that a body had been seen in the Uplands Basin Marina in Anderton.
“Police, fire and paramedics attended the scene and a man was located in the water.
“Sadly, the 73-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene.
“His next of kin have been informed.
“The death is not believed to be suspicious at this time and a case file will be prepared for the coroner.”
An inquest into Mr Shenton’s death was opened by senior coroner Jacqueline Devonish at Warrington Coroner’s Court on Wednesday (December 13).
A case review will take place on February 11 ahead of the full inquest on May 2, 2024.
