A YOUTH club has been shut down for the foreseeable future.
The CW10 Youth Hub in Middlewich is to be closed until at least next year.
This comes following a recent spate of 'poor behaviour'.
The town’s mayor, Cllr Colin Coules, said: “Unfortunately we have had to temporarily close the youth club after a spate of damage and vandalism.
“Middlewich Town Council has had positive meeting to discuss the situation with the organisers and we are confident the correct measures will be put into place to prevent reoccurrence and the club will re-open in January.”
The youth club was launched last year by the town council in partnership with Cheshire East Council, Cheshire East Social Action Partnership, Youth Fed and local volunteers.
Running on Wednesday evenings at Victoria Hall, the free sessions are open for young people aged 12 to 16.
However, Middlewich Town Council took to Facebook shortly before this week’s session was due to start to confirm it would not be returning this year.
The post read: “The CW10 Youth Hub is not on this evening or in the run up to Christmas.
“It will start up again in the new year.”
Middlewich Police then added: “Due to recent poor behaviour the CW10 youth club at Victoria Hall on Wednesday evenings is closed until January 17, 2024.”
