A MAYOR has paid tribute to 'one of the best councillors' a town has ever had.
Middlewich councillor Anne Price passed away last month, aged 66.
Now, the town’s mayor Colin Coules has shared his memories of his late colleague.
Councillor Coules said: “It was with enormous sadness that we learnt of the passing of our dear friend and colleague councillor Anne Price.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with Anne`s husband Denis and her family.
“I used the councillor prefix for a reason, as I think Anne was one of the best councillors Middlewich has ever had.
“Even before becoming a councillor, Anne gave so much to various volunteer groups and local projects, but being a councillor provided a platform to extend that help and support across our community.
“Anne was very proud that she came from a farming background, and I think that’s where she gained that ‘can do’ attitude we all loved and respected.
"Nothing was too much trouble; Anne just got on with the task in hand. Even in the later stages of her illness, Anne would still drag herself to council meetings, not wanting to let anyone down and to support her fellow councillors.”

Anne was elected to Middlewich Town Council as an independent in May.
She died on November 16, with a minute’s silence held at the meeting later that day.
Councillor Coules added: “I, personally, will and already do miss Anne. I consider myself very fortunate to have known and worked with such an amazing, generous and kind lady.
“The work we did together in making the youth council a reality will, I think, be a legacy she herself would be immensely pleased with.
“Anne was a lady with a big heart and brilliant sense of humour. Her passing will be felt in every corner of our society and in every corner of the town, such was the reach and scope of Anne`s amazing work.”
He continued: “Anne once told me that it’s a wonderful thing to help others and to give something back.
“Well, Anne certainly did just that and we, the people of Middlewich, will be forever grateful for what Anne did for us all and for our town.”
