A MAN who stole and crashed a relative’s car has failed to show up in court.
Jonathan Bacegalupo, of Solvay Road in Northwich, was due to be sentenced at Warrington Magistrates Court today (December 1).
However, the 28-year-old didn’t attend the hearing and as such the judge, Mr Chadwick, ordered an arrest warrant.
Bacegalupo had already admitted to stealing a white BMW 1 Series on June 5 of this year.
He then drove the vehicle along the A49 in Weaverham without a licence or insurance.
A solicitor in attendance during Friday’s hearing, Mr O’Kane, stated that Bacegalupo drove the car 'at speed' and eventually crashed it into a skip lorry at a roundabout.
It is understood the vehicle belonged to a family member.
He did this whilst more than three times the drink drive limit.
Bacegalupo was recorded as having 107 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, exceeding the limit of 35 microgrammes.
He pleaded guilty to five charges relating to this incident on November 3.
When Bacegalupo failed to show up at court on Friday, Mr O’Kane explained that there had been a 'number of non-attendances'.
However, he added it would be 'appropriate' for the judge to issue a warrant.
