A WINSFORD teenager has been sent to custody after burgling a flat in the town with intent to cause grievous bodily harm to the occupant.
The 17-year-old boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, appeared at Chester Crown Court on November 10 for sentencing.
The court heard the youth entered a property near the Oakmere Road/High Street roundabout on November 18 last year.
While committing the burglary, the teenage trespasser also intended to inflict grievous bodily harm on a person inside.
Having pleaded guilty to a charge of aggravated burglary at a hearing on September 29, the boy returned to court this month.
Due to the seriousness of the offence, Judge Steven Everett sentenced the teen to 40 months in a young offender's institution.
At the September hearing, a second teenager, aged 18, pleaded not guilty to the offence and is due to stand trial from January 11 next year.
