MEMBERS of the Mid Cheshire Bowling League have displayed their generosity in big numbers.
It has been a long tradition for the league to have an annual charity collection and the committee decided to change tack for the 2023 season by naming a worthy cause prior to the start of the fund-raising campaign.
The chosen charity for the season, Down Syndrome Cheshire, is based in Denton House, Northwich, and the organisation’s aim since its foundation in 2007 is to empower people of all ages with Down Syndrome to unlock their potential and lead happy and fulfilling lives.
Nominating a charity ahead of the new campaign proved effective because the amount collected in the season was a record for the league at £2,289.44.
One club, in particular, took up the challenge with Owley Wood Recreation Club leading the way with a fantastic contribution of £1,550.86.
The cheque was presented to a delighted Jasper, Jamie and Theo at the Mid Cheshire League’s presentation night.
After the cheque was presented, Rebecca Goodier, member support manager and mother of Jamie, made a speech to the room thanking the league for their generosity.
