A POPULAR global gym brand has confirmed its move to Northwich.
Barons Quay will soon be home to a Snap Fitness, the US-based company has announced.
Building work is currently taking place, with doors set to open in January, news which has been welcomed by town councillors Sam Naylor and Lee Siddall.
Cllr Naylor, who chaired the regeneration forum and whose Witton ward contains Barons Quay, added: “I want Barons Quay to be a success.
“When we first looked at Barons Quay we looked at a retail model, but that’s dead and buried now. We’ve got a real mixture of outlets instead.
“I welcome anyone who will make a positive addition to Barons Quay and they’re an international company who know what they’re doing.
“It’s a brand-new unit, it’s a big unit overlooking the river, it’s a really good location.
“It will increase footfall in Northwich too as there will be plenty who go to the gym and then pop into town for a coffee or to do their shopping afterwards - I’m all for it!
“Myself and others like me are determined to make Northwich work, onwards and upwards I say!”
Cllr Siddall said: "It's fantastic to witness another business setting up shop at Barons Quay.
"This goes to show Northwich's ability to attract international establishments like this one and demonstrates that our town is moving in a positive direction.
"I wish Snap Fitness 24 every success and look forward to seeing it open it's doors."
Details of what can be expected have been revealed on the Snap Fitness website.
The gym will be open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and will feature a "large" free weights section and a “generous” amount of benches.
There will also be a training area featuring a sled track, battle ropes, core bags, plyo boxes and TRX.
Alongside this will be a spin studio with 'immersive and ambient lighting' as well as classes such as yoga, HiiT, circuits and core.
Snap Fitness memberships will also entitle you to go to any of the brand’s 86-plus other branches in the UK, as well as any of the 1,000 worldwide.
A post on the Northwich gym’s Instagram read: “Northwich we're on our way, who's excited?
“It may not look like much now, but we are on track for our club opening in January.
“We are excited for our brand-new high-quality gym equipment!”
