WORK has started on the first phase of a new 380-home housing estate which will see the redevelopment of parts of the former ICI Wade Works site.
Plans for development, off Hargreaves Road on land between Bowden Drive and Griffiths Park in Rudheath, were approved in 2022.
Now social housing provider Your Housing Group has appointed Lovell Partnerships to deliver phase one of the scheme comprising 151 new homes.
To be known as Orchard View, the development will be a mix of one, two, three and four-bedroom homes, available for market sale, shared ownership, rent to buy, affordable rent and social rent.
Lorraine Donnelly, development director for Your Housing Group, said: "We are delighted to once again be working with Lovell who are our trusted build partner to deliver another high-quality housing development.
"Thanks to the support of Cheshire West and Chester Council who supported our plans we will be able to transform this site into a wonderful, vibrant community in Northwich.
"It is a fantastic development for the local area and is yet another significant step forward in delivering our ambitious plans to build quality new housing across the region.
"We are continuing to deliver mixed tenure options to ensure that new homes are accessible for more people."
Wider development of the estate will also see native trees and hedges planted, along with further landscaping to 'complement existing greenery'.
The project aims to retain as much of the original ecological infrastructure as possible in order to 'reduce development pressure on the Green Belt while meeting the area's current and future housing needs'.
Tahreen Shad, partnership director for Lovell in the North West, said: "This is a hugely exciting project for Northwich and the surrounding region, bringing a mix of homes to help meet the local housing need.
"The work on site is also a great opportunity to provide local jobs and training opportunities through our Lovell Legacy programme; our focus is on building futures as well as communities, while also supporting existing local businesses.
"We are looking forward to working on another project with our trusted strategic partner, Your Housing Group and supporting the delivery of this important scheme."
This phase of development is funded through Your Housing Group’s strategic partnership with Homes England.
