CHESHIRE Police have given an update on the air ambulance incident in Northwich today, Sunday.
The helicopter landed on open ground behind Hollands Road, off London Road, close to the River Dane and Vickersway Park at 3.50pm.
Early reports suggest it was responding to an incident in the park, near the railway viaduct.
Police have since confirmed a man was found under the railway arches on Weir Street with "serious injuries" which were "self-inflicted".
They have added that there was no assault.
The man was treated at the scene by paramedics before being airlifted to hospital.

Police had previously described the incident as an "altercation between two men".
They had also stated that "no one was helivaced".
