A MAN has been charged with rape, assault and strangulation.
Matthew Keay, 34 and of Wyndham Road in Blurton, Stoke-on-Trent, has been charged with rape, section 47 assault, non-fatal strangulation, and section 39 assault by beating.
It comes after an incident on High Street in Winsford late on Wednesday night (September 13).
Cheshire Police were called at 11.20pm to reports of a woman in distress.
A woman in her 30s was found and a small cordon was set up by police at the edge of Town Park and remained in place for “a number of hours”.
Keay was remanded in custody to appear at Warrington Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday (September 19).
He was then further remanded in custody to appear at Chester Crown Court next month (October 17).
