ARRESTS have been made following a drugs bust at a train station in Northwich.
Three men have been arrested on suspicion of county lines drug dealing as part of a Cheshire Police operation at Hartford station.
The arrests on Monday (September 18) come as part of an ongoing investigation to tackle offenders importing class A drugs from Liverpool.
Detective Sergeant John Lyons, of Northwich Local Policing Unit, said: “These arrests are part of our ongoing efforts to tackle organised crime and make Cheshire a hostile place for criminals.
“From our initial enquiries it appears that the trio are involved in County Lines drug dealing and have been transporting drugs into the Northwich area from Liverpool using the railway network.
“Thankfully, they have all been arrested and will now face the consequences of their actions.
“I hope that their arrests send out a clear message to other offenders who are planning to come to Northwich to commit crime, you will be caught, and you will face the consequences.
“I also hope that this operation provides reassurance to local residents, demonstrating that we are committed to doing all we can to tackle drugs related crime in Northwich.”
The operation began shortly after 5pm when officers stopped a 29-year-old man who arrived at Hartford on the train from Liverpool.
The man was found in possession of a quantity of class A drugs and was arrested at the scene.
A 57-year-old man who was waiting in a parked car to collect the suspect was also arrested.
Police then made a third arrest at around 10.10pm.
A man, aged 42, was stopped by officers after arriving on the train from Liverpool.
All three were arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of class A drugs.
Investigations are ongoing and the suspects are currently being questioned by officers.
Sergeant Lyons added: “Information from the local community is vital and if you have any information about illegal drug activity or any other criminal activity taking place in Northwich then please report it to us on 101, or anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 and we will take action.”
