SEPTEMBER 14, 1963 - the date of The Beatles’ last show in Northwich.
Sixty years have passed since perhaps the greatest band of all time graced the Mid Cheshire town for the final time.
The Fab Four performed six times in Northwich between 1962 and 1963, as Beatlemania began to grip the nation.
Their relationship with the town was “unusual”, performing here more times than they did in more ‘glamorous’ locations such as Los Angeles, Miami, Washington DC, Miami, Birmingham, Edinburgh and Cardiff, to name but a few.
Paul Wane, from Chorley-based Tracks Ltd, said: “In most places, The Beatles only played once or twice, but in Northwich they played an unusual amount of times.”
The Northwich gig, at what was then called Memorial Hall, was the penultimate show of their 1963 UK summer tour, which came to a close at the Royal Albert Hall in London the following day.
In the years that followed, John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr became household names across the globe, with the band embarking on their first world tour in June 1964.
By the time The Beatles split in 1970 they had managed 17 UK number ones, making them the most successful band, and most decorated British act, of all time.
