A DEALER who hid drugs in crisp packets has been jailed.
Samuel Watts, of Thornley Green in Lostock Gralam, has been sentenced to three years in prison.
It comes after the 32-year-old pleaded guilty to being concerned in the supply of class A and B drugs, namely cocaine and cannabis, as well as possession of a weapon.
Detective constable Daniel Lee, who led the investigation, said: “Watts will now be behind bars for three years and we have once again been able to prevent illegal drugs from reaching the streets of Northwich.
“While this case has now concluded, we will continue to target anyone who thinks that they can come into our town to deal drugs and ensure that Northwich is a safe place for those who live here.
“I would urge residents to continue to provide vital information about drug activity in the community as it allows us to build a clear picture of what is going on in the area.”
CRIME NEWS: Drug dealer caught by undercover police to be sentenced
The case against Watts began in January of this year, when officers identified a mobile phone which was being used to send messages advertising drugs for sale in the Northwich area.
Following enquiries, the phone was linked to Watts.
A warrant was conducted at his home on March 1, during which officers discovered a quantity of cannabis, along with electric scales, snap bags, and other drugs paraphernalia.
Police were not able to find any class A drugs during the initial search of the property, however, while searching the garden officers found an empty crisp packet which contained 23 bags of cocaine, worth between £700 and £800.
A contractible metal baton was also discovered under a bed at the property.
