POLICE have confirmed a woman has died on the tracks near Winsford Railway Station.
British Transport Police (BTP) officers, along with firefighters and paramedics, attended the scene at around 6.20pm yesterday (September 6).
On arrival, the woman was discovered and was pronounced dead at the scene.
A BTP spokeswoman said: "Officers were called to the tracks near Winsford Railway Station at around 6.20pm yesterday (6 September) following reports of a casualty on the tracks.
"Fire and paramedics also attended however sadly a woman was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”
Train services in the surrounding area were disrupted while the incident was dealt with, affecting the rail network between Crewe, Runcorn and Warrington Bank Quay.
Normal train services have since resumed.
