THE education trust behind Winsford Academy remains tight-lipped over its investigation into alleged prom night incidents while the school's principal is absent on health grounds.

Earlier this summer, The Fallibroome Trust began looking into allegations made surrounding the school's prom, which took place at the Willington Hall hotel near Tarporley on June 30.

It is understood the allegations involved a number of staff members however, for legal reasons the nature of the alleged incidents cannot be disclosed.

And as students returned to classes this month, principal Laura Halsall, who was appointed in 2022, is absent as she awaits an operation.

Mrs Rogers has taken on the role of acting principal in Ms Halsall's absence.

A Fallibroome Trust spokesman said: "We cannot comment on individual investigations, and cannot share information about staff absence due to GDPR considerations and the Trust’s own policy.

"However, the Winsford Academy’s principal Ms Halsall has given permission to share with the school community that she is currently unwell, and awaiting an operation.

"She hopes to return to work later in the term. We wish her well and ask that her privacy is respected.

"Mrs Rogers is acting principal and will continue to be well supported by colleagues in school and by The Fallibroome Trust team."
