EXCITEMENT is building as a popular family event returns to Winsford after a four-year absence.
The Winsford Salt Fair will take place between September 13 and September 17, after last being held in the town in 2019.
Organised by Winsford Town Council, the salt fair is a yearly event held to uphold a royal charter, issued to the town by King Edward I in 1280, granting a weekly market and annual fair.
And as such, the fair will begin on the Wednesday as town mayor Cllr Ernie Welch reads the charter at the George & Dragon pub in Delamere Street.
Then each day there will be a funfair from 5pm until 9.30pm on the Church Street car park. The funfair will run from 11am to 9.30pm on Saturday and 11am to 6.30pm on Sunday.
The Salt Fair Festival will take place on the Saturday from 4pm to 7pm at Marina Island.
This event will include a stage, performers, stalls, a bar, a crafting marquee and much more.
Cllr Welch said: "I am really looking forward to The Salt Fair starting on September 13 and am privileged to be reading the charter at the historic George & Dragon pub at 6pm.
"It is four years since our last Salt Fair and it has always been a hugely popular family event.
"It is a great opportunity for us all as a community once again to unite at this great family event."
