POLICE have handed out parking fines to drivers blocking pavements at a popular beauty spot.

As sunshine attracted large numbers of visitors to Pickmere Lake yesterday, Sunday, a number of vehicles were caught causing 'unnecessary obstruction'.

Cheshire Police officers on patrol say they issued a number of Fixed Penalty Notices.

The scenic location attracts a lot of people during the summer.

But villagers say this causes many problems, including obstructing pavements and drives, littering and anti-social behaviour.

Residents say the narrow lanes are often gridlocked.

The force’s Knutsford police team said: “Police have issued Fixed Penalty Notices to vehicles ignoring No Waiting signs, and also parked on the pavements causing unnecessary obstruction to pedestrians, prams and to wheelchair users in Pickmere.”
