AN Airbnb property offering people the chance to 'live like a celebrity' has applied for planning permission to allow it to host guests all year round.
The owners of Fernside, off Frog Lane, Pickmere, have submitted an application to Cheshire East Council for a change from residential to hotel use.
Boasting its own bar, cinema, gym and private lake, stays at the six-bedroom home cost more than £1,000 a night in August and September.
In a planning statement, prepared by Dane Architecture on behalf of the applicant, it says: "The dwelling is already used as an established host using the Airbnb platform.
"The proposal would allow the applicant to host year round use of the dwelling as Class C1 (hotel use).
"Existing use Class C3 (residential) makes no distinction between whether the dwellinghouse is used as a sole or main home, for personal or commercial use, or its tenure (rental or home ownership).
"The planning system allows for local consideration of the merits of individual cases 'as a matter of fact and degree' as to whether there is a material change of use requiring planning permission.
"This gives rise to existing properties being used in a variety of ways. For example, a homeowner may be able to let out a room to boost their household income.
"In other cases, the whole property may be let out for a two week holiday period while the owner is away. Other properties however may be let out as a series of short term lets, over all the holiday periods or for several weekends.
"We understand in this case planning permission would normally be required in respect of any such cases where there will be a material change of use, as would be the above proposal."
On Airbnb, the property's listing states: "Fernside is an impressive smart home with a huge, open plan entertaining space complete with bar, dining area, kitchen, lounge areas and grand piano.
"There are three toilets off the main living/entertaining space. The house also boasts extensive manicured gardens, private lake with fountain, cinema room and gym. And that’s not to mention the full-size jacuzzi bath in the master en-suite."
The listing adds the owners also provide additional services such as a chauffeur-driven car or a private chef for an extra charge.
