A MAN has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder in relation to a reported stabbing incident at Hartford Railway Station yesterday evening, Friday.
British Transport Police (BTP) attended the scene at 4pm following reports that a man had been stabbed on a train travelling from Liverpool to Birmingham.
Cheshire Police officers attended the incident and closed Chester Road.
The victim, a man in his 50s, received first aid assistance by paramedics from The Northwest Air Ambulance.
He was taken to a nearby hospital where it is confirmed he is in ‘a stable condition’ and his injuries are ‘not thought to be life threatening’.
British Transport Police are carrying out enquiries into the incident and are requesting any witnesses to come forward with information.
A spokesperson from BTP said: “Shortly after 4pm yesterday (28 July), British Transport Police were called to Hartford Station following a report of a man being stabbed on a train from Liverpool to Birmingham.
“A man in his 40s was arrested at the scene on suspicion of attempted murder and is in custody.
“The Northwest Air Ambulance also attended and took the victim, a man in his 50s, to hospital. Fortunately, his injuries are not thought to be life threatening and he is in a stable condition.
“Enquiries are ongoing and any witnesses who haven’t already spoken to police can contact BTP by texting 61016 quoting reference 408 of 28 July.”
