A PASSION for fashion is the key to success for Claire Forster.
She’s the owner of The Style Hut at Northwich Indoor Market and after winning last year’s Best Independent Shop award, the business has just scooped the 2023 honour.
Each week, we will be searching for the best Mid Cheshire has to offer in different categories and we’ve given out 11 awards for 2023.
The winners so far:
Best for Hair – Oliver Gibney Hairdressing
Best for Pies – Ka Pie
Best for Nails – Samantha Dean Nails and Makeup

Voting for Mid Cheshire’s Best for Dessert is currently taking place and we’re also looking for nominations in our latest search - Best for Beauty.
Next on the list was the search for Mid Cheshire’s Best Independent Shop or Business – to mark Independence Week and #ukindieday – and The Style Hut took the latest Best of 2023 crown, securing it back-to-back wins.
Claire, who turned 50 earlier this year, grew up and still lives in Rudheath with her husband Paul and has two grown up sons – Jack and Harry.
She opened The Style Hut nearly five years ago when her clothes rail inside her hairdressing salon on Northwich Indoor Market in Applemarket Street was proving to be popular with customers.
Claire decided to expand the business and sell more clothes and accessories instead of cutting hair.
The Style Hut is a ladies boutique selling the latest fashion and accessories at excellent prices.
There are weekly deliveries of new stock each week in sizes eight to 22 and during the pandemic Claire created a website so people could place orders online with local delivery.
During the national and local lockdowns, Claire create weekly posts for her customers and did regular Facebook Live content showcasing the new styles in the shop.
Claire said: “We’re a family-run business and I’m helped by my husband and two sons as well as Emma Langston, who does a lot of work behind the scenes at The Style Hut.
“I love my little boutique and we aim to provide the best service for our clientele.
“We like to suggest outfits to our ladies who aren’t sure at first and then try an outfit on and feel a million dollars.
“The look on their faces makes our job worthwhile.
“I put my heart and soul into The Style Hut and strive to get the latest fashion and best quality products at wonderful prices as every penny counts for people in the current cost-of-living climate.”
But what do the customers at The Style Hut think about the business? Why did they want Claire and the team to win our latest title?
One regular described it as a “hidden gem” and another praised Claire's friendly and helpful personality.
Claire said: “My customers have become friends and it can be like a mothers’ meeting at times in the boutique as there is always laughter and everyone likes the personal touch we offer.
“I’d like to thank my gorgeous customers for voting for The Style Hut and helping us win this title for the second year running.
“I truly appreciate each and every vote we received as our town is full of amazing independent businesses, who all need each other’s support.
“Thank you so much.”
