A WINSFORD man has been jailed after police were called out to reports of a person with a machete in the street.
Officers were dispatched to Arkwright Close at around 8am on Tuesday, July 11, in reponse but the offender had fled the scene.
A search of the area was carried out and Stephen Poole, of Bradbury Road, was arrested at around 9.40am.
The 32-year-old appeared at Warrington Magistrates Court the following day charged with using threatening behaviour intending to cause fear of violence.
Poole pleaded guilty to the charge and magistrates jailed him for 16 weeks.
The court heard the offence was so serious, only a custodial sentence could be justified.
Just last month Poole had avoided jail despite stealing electrical items from the Cheshire West and Chester Council.
He had been handed an eight-week prison sentence, suspended for 12 months.
