APEX Cheer are celebrating fantastic results from their first venture into European competition.
The Apex cheerleading team, based at Comberbach Memorial Hall, made their debut at the prestigious Cheer 4 All European Cup in Italy in June - the first time in the club’s short history that a place in a European event had been secured.
And they have come home as European champions.
Six gold medals, one silver and two bronze were achieved by the group.
Megan Sutton, owner and founder of Apex Cheer, said: “It was an amazing weekend.
“The girls were an absolute credit and so were the parents who accompanied us!
“We even took them to the water park as a treat and they were so well behaved.”
The group booked their ticket to Italy thanks to a run of outstanding scores at the UKCA National Cheer and Dance Championships in March.
In May, the club marked its sixth birthday, so it has come a long way in a short space of time in a team-based sport that combines acrobatics with dance.
The club currently attracts members from Northwich but also Holmes chapel, Warrington, Kelsall, Middlewich and knutsford, and those at the club take so much from being involved.
Megan explained: “Cheerleading is about team spirit and camaraderie, and keeps the team active, fit, flexible and strong.
“Not only is being part of a team great for mental and physical health, but cheerleading has taught the members important life skills, especially in regards to commitment and resilience.”
