A NORTHWICH cyclist is flying this summer and achieved three national titles – with more attempts still to come.
Emily Martin, 33, completed her treble at the weekend when the Team Bottrill rider won the women’s race in the National 100-Mile Time Trial Championships.
That followed the first individual national title of the amateur competitor’s career a week earlier when she triumphed in the women’s National 50-mile Time Trial Championship.
Martin’s glorious summer of momentous results got off the mark with success in the National Team Time Trial Women’s Championships, with Team Bottrill.
In between, the Weaver Valley Cycling Club second-claim rider also placed an impressive 10th in the British Cycling Elite Women’s Time Trial Championships.
Her outstanding 100-mile success at the weekend came on a course near Mundford in Norfolk, where her average speed of 25.692mph and time of 3hrs 53mins 32secs put her 1min 38secs clear of second-placed Lizi Brooke from the Wahoo Le Col team.
She was almost four minutes clear of her nearest rival Sally Turner from HUUB WattShop in the 50-miler, clocking 1hr 55mins 58secs.
All of this has been achieved by Martin while considered relatively new to the time-trial scene and competing against some of the sport’s big names.
She is expected to be tackling the 10 and 25-mile national championships later in the year.
