POLICE drones and dogs were deployed as part of a search for a 'high risk' missing man.
Officers were dispatched to the Blackden area of Goostrey at around 6pm yesterday (June 28) after Greater Manchester Police (GMP) received a 'ping' from the man's phone near Jodrell Bank.
Cheshire Police and British Transport Police (BTP) search teams were called in to assist in the operation.
Patrol cars and vans were parked in strategic spots along Blackden Lane and near the entrance to Jodrell Bank Radio Telescope where officers also searched the main Crewe-Manchester line.
The search took place on both sides of the railway line either side of Jodrell Bank between the main Chelford-Holmes Chapel road and the Blackden-Barnshaw area.
BTP drones and dog unit were sent to the scene to look for the man, believed to be around 54 years old, but he was not found in the area.
A GMP spokeswoman confirmed the 'high risk' missing man was later found safe and well in Manchester.
A Cheshire Police spokesman added: "At 6pm we were called to assist GMP in a search for a missing man.
"We were informed he may have been in the Goostrey area of Cheshire. A search was undertaken.
"He was not located in this area and the incident was passed back to GMP.
"British Transport Police drones and dogs also attended the incident to assist."
