A DAVENHAM cottage could be pulled down because it was built without planning permission.
Vale Royal Borough Council has issued an enforcement notice after Bluebell Cottage was built at Davenham Nurseries, in London Road.
An appeal against the notice has been lodged with the Secretary of State and Davenham Parish Council was asked if it would like to comment.
Davenham parish councillor Brian Robinson said: "This is a problem if we just let people build whatever they like."
But council chairman Clr John Curran said: "I agree with the facts but it is an attractive building in a walled garden and is hidden away and not doing any harm.
"I don't think it's reasonable to ask them to take it down when it's not causing any offence.
"If we're asked to comment as a parish council I personally will not."
The details of the borough council enforcement case state that the cottage adjoins a walled garden in the curtilage of Grade II listed Davenham Hall, in the Davenham conservation area.
