POLICE are investigating a suspected arson attack involving a car in Middlewich.

A fire crew from the town was dispatched to the scene of the blaze in Croxton Lane at around 10.46pm on Tuesday (June 20).

The flames were extinguished, with the cause of the fire believed to be deliberate.

The incident was passed to Cheshire Police who have appealed for anyone with information about the fire to come forward.

A police spokeswoman said: "At around 11pm on Tuesday, June 20, police were made aware of a car fire in Croxton Lane, Middlewich.

"The fire is believed to have been started deliberately and enquiries are ongoing.

"Anyone with information can visit cheshire.police.uk/tell-us quoting IML 1577692."

A Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: "A car on fire was extinguished with a hose reel by firefighters. It is believed the fire was started deliberately so police were informed."
