WHEN it comes to breakfast, you can’t go wrong with a full English – fried eggs, sausages and bacon with hash browns, beans and toast.
How about an award-winning one from Kanya Bistro and Restaurant – officially Mid Cheshire’s Best for Breakfast 2023!
Each week, we will be searching for the best Mid Cheshire has to offer in different categories.
Oliver Gibney Hairdressing took the first Best of 2023 title – Best for Hair in Mid Cheshire – and Ka Pie is officially Best for Pies with Samantha Dean Nails and Makeup being crowned Best for Nails, The Red Lion in Little Budworth is Best for Roast Dinner and Grape and Bean was announced as Best for Cocktails.
Voting for Mid Cheshire’s Best for Fitness is currently taking place and we’re also looking for nominations in our latest search - Best for Fish and Chips.
Next up was breakfast and Kanya Bistro and Restaurant beat off some tough competition to take the title.
Monika Palka is the co-owner and manager of Kanya Bistro together with business partner Nagendra Kumar Prasad and they opened the restaurant’s doors in August 2010.
It was originally on High Street in Northwich but moved to its new location at Waters Cross on Watling Street in October 2021.
Kanya Bistro offers traditional English cuisine with a menu that has, over the years, been developed to include bistro-style dishes with a modern twist.
Currently they offer breakfast and lunch but there plans to open in the evenings and they also cater for private dining and special events like baby showers, birthday parties and anniversaries as well as weddings, christenings and corporate nights.
Monika, who is from Poland, said: “Our innovative chefs enhance the dining experience with dishes that are beautifully and imaginatively presented.
“Our eyes alert our senses well before our taste buds!
“Mainstays from our menu are probably the full English breakfast and the Sunday roast, both very popular and continuing to win the hearts of many of our guests.”
Monika and Nagendra share a common interest in the hospitality industry and they are both passionate about their profession.
Monika said: “Through our love for hospitality, we opened Kanya so that we could provide top quality food and service to people in Cheshire.
“Nagendra has a wealth of experience and he has more than 27 years’ experience in hospitality.
“He began his hotel and catering career in 1995 in India and has worked in various corporate hotels around the world, namely Hilton, Marriott, Ramada and some of the finest country house deluxe hotels.
“I was personally inspired by his professionalism and I decided to join as a co-partner to help him expand the business.”
Their business partnership has proven to have the recipe for success as Kanya Bistro’s sister restaurant Creative Indian Kitchen is popular in Sandbach and this has pushed them to achieve more at the Northwich site.
Monika said: “We found that a quality, traditional English bistro and restaurant was needed in Northwich.
“We pride ourselves and strive to be on a par with top quality hotels.
“Quality ingredients are used to ensure that the food we produce is of excellent quality.
“We do not compromise on the quality of food.”
She added: “I believe that our attention to detail, our commitment towards our business and our customer service sets us apart from other similar businesses.
“We constantly look out for innovative ideas to enhance our business and ways to develop and grow.”
So, what do Kanya’s customers think about the restaurant? Why do they think it deserves to take the latest Best of 2023 title?
One nomination said: “I had a great time eating a delicious breakfast here.
“It was beautiful – good quality, tasty produce and the coffee was perfect.
“Highly recommend this place!”
The full English breakfast is always a hit with customers and Kanya offers a vegetarian alternative.
How about a Kanya delux, which is two slices of buttered toast, scrambled eggs and smoked salmon topped with avocado?
Or maybe you’d prefer the mouth-watering crumpets eggs Benedict, which boasts two toasted crumpets topped with grilled bacon and poached eggs and finished with hollandaise sauce.
Monika and Nagendra believe in their business and their quality breakfasts and were honoured to make the final shortlist in our search for Mid Cheshire’s best early morning meal.
Monika said: “We were so thrilled to hear that we won the award and we are so grateful to everyone who voted for us.
“Without the support of our customers, we would not have successfully been in business since 2010 and our entire team is hugely deserving of the Best for Breakfast 2023 title.”
