OPENING your own business during lockdown was never going to be easy.
But Samantha Jayne knew that she could make a success of her salon and she was right as it’s just been named Mid Cheshire’s Best for Nails 2023.

Twelve picture-perfect nail salons and nail technicians in Mid Cheshire made the shortlist for Best for Nails with Samantha Dean Nails & Makeup in Northwich taking the coveted title.
Samantha Dean
Samantha started doing nails in March 2020 just before lockdown and then moved into her salon at her parents’ house on Heathcote Gardens in Rudheath the following December.
During the Covid-19 pandemic, when salons were forced to close for business, Samantha made press on nails to practise her skills and then worked for a few months at Halo House of Beauty once restrictions eased.
Samantha, who lives in Northwich, said: “I really enjoyed working in the salon but I knew I wanted to start up my own business and my parents kindly offered to convert their garage into a salon.
“I am fully qualified in nails and makeup artistry however my main focus is nails as I’m so busy and I don’t have much time to offer makeup.
“In the future I’d like to offer more makeup but nails has always been my first passion.
“I always loved getting my nails and had a creative background doing art at school and college so I thought I’d combine the two and train.”
A quirky creation
So, what makes Samantha’s business different to the rest?
Samantha said: “I think having a small intimate space in the salon, my clients feel calm and relaxed.
“I always try to go to independent therapists for my own beauty treatments as I feel more comfortable in an environment that’s one to one.
“I take pride in my work and always want to make sure my client is happy.
“I try to take the time to help them decide what they want and I will always give any detailed nail art ideas a go!”

Samantha said: “I was shocked when I found out I’d made the shortlist for Best for Nails 2023 as there are so many talented nail technicians in Mid Cheshire and it was lovely to see all my clients voting for me.
“I never thought I’d win, especially with being an independent salon, but that’s down to my lovely clients, family and friends.
“It’s thanks to them that I get to do what I love every day and I’m so grateful to win this award.”
