THE excitement is building as a date is announced for the seventh annual Darnhall Show.

This family fun day will have main ring entertainment including a professional dog agility demonstration, the famous Fun Dog Show, jujitsu demonstration, The Darnhall Dancers, and the Rose Queen, as well as craft and shopping stalls, and a farmers market.

There will also be displays of vintage tractors, cars, and steam engines, and for refreshments, there will be a barbeque, delicious woodfire pizzas, high teas with homemade cakes supplied by Darnhall Brownies, and The Old Star pub will be putting-on a bar.

In a change to the usual practice, the proceeds from this year’s show will go partly to a nominated local charity, with the remainder offered to local community groups who will be invited to bid for a share of the money.

Event organiser, Sue Langley, said: “I’m really looking forward to it. It’s a bit mad getting it all ready, but it’s worth it as things start to take shape, and on the day when you see the whole community come together.

“We’re going to do things a bit different this time. We’ll pick a charity to support, who we’ll invite to the show, but if there is money left, which I hope there will be, we’re going to invite bids from the wider community.

“The show is for the community to come together and have a good day out with the family, and then I want to put the money back into the community by giving it to a whole host of groups.”

“They should write a letter to the Darnhall Show committee and tell us about their project, and we hope to be able to give them a donation towards it.”
