RADIO Northwich has announced the second of several charity music concerts to mark its fifth birthday year.

Bad Manners will play at the town’s iconic Plaza this summer, an English two-tone and ska band led by frontman Buster Bloodvessel, who were at their most popular during the early 1980s.

The band spent 110 weeks in the UK Singles Chart, including claiming nine top 40 hits.

Notable hits include My Girl Lollipop, Lip Up Fatty, Can Can, Special Brew and Walking in the Sunshine, fronted by Buster Bloodvessel

The band will take to the stage at the Plaza Northwich on Saturday, July 1, with proceeds from the concert going to support the ‘Simply The Breast’ charity, which was formed to raise funds for the Breast Care Unit at Leighton Hospital.

Kim Smith, partner at Radio Northwich, said: “We are striving to raise £50,000 for the Breast Care Unit at Leighton Hospital and are in the process of arranging some amazing evenings of live music.

“Utilising the unique, iconic Plaza Northwich, we are hoping to repeat the special atmosphere generated at last year’s Heaven 17 gig by bringing the legendary Buster Bloodvessel and his band to town.

“We anticipate many visitors from outside the region will attend the concert, which takes place on the evening prior to the town’s scooter day, providing an opportunity to once again showcase Northwich as a visitor destination.”

Bad Manners will be supported by London-based Special Kinda Madness, who are a tribute act to fellow ska bands The Specials and Madness.

Tickets for the concert are now on sale available through Radio Northwich Ticket office priced at £30 and £35 (booking fee applies).
