SCHOOLCHILDREN from Winsford have been making special memories on a field trip to London.

Earlier this month, year six pupils at Grange Community Nursery and Primary School enjoyed a two-day visit to the capital.

As well as taking in the sights on the London Eye and on a river cruise on the Thames, the children also visited the Tower of London and watched the Changing of the Guard at Buckingham Palace.

The half-term trip, which the Brindley Avenue school undertakes each year, aimed to ignite the youngsters learning on the monarchy.

Head of school Harriet McGilloway said: "The children loved visiting London, and we hope that they will cherish those special memories for years to come.

"The trip was a wonderful way to embed the children's history and geography learning which is key for helping our children to understand the world and how our world has changed over time.

"It was also particularly significant for year six to see Buckingham Palace for themselves, ahead of this year's Coronation celebration."

The children were also treated to a show, Matilda, a version of which they will be performing themselves in the summer term.
