FLORAL tributes have been left in a Northwich park where a woman was found dead on Saturday.
Police were called to St John’s Playing Field in Griffiths Park, Rudheath, at around 9am on Saturday, February 11, after concerns were raised about the welfare of a woman.
Paramedics attended, but the woman, who has not yet been named, was pronounced dead at the scene.
A spokeswoman for Cheshire Police said: “At around 9am on Saturday, February 11, police were called to concerns for the welfare of a woman in Griffiths Park, Northwich.
“Officers and paramedics attended and sadly the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.”
A torchlight vigil was held by members of the Rudheath community, who have been shocked and saddened by the news, on Sunday, February 12, at 5pm.
The vigil was arranged by Northwich town councillor, Olwyn Dean.
Cllr Dean said: “It was such a shock to the system. People are obviously very saddened.
“I just feel the community wants to come together to pay their respects, and I thought it better that we all do it together, rather than people doing it one at a time.”
