Why did you decide to open your own salon?
My son was young and I needed to be flexible with my working hours, for him and my clients.
What’s your hair and beauty background?
I went straight into a hairdressing apprenticeship when I left school, which I completed at The Hair Shop on London Road in Northwich. I worked there for 16 years and had the best training, with so many talented hairdressers. I’m so grateful and I don’t believe I would be the hairdresser I am today without those years of training.
Why this type of business?
I followed my dream and the passion I had for hairdressing. Nothing else ever came close – I believe it’s what I was supposed to do.
How did the Covid-19 pandemic affect your business?
Covid effected the hairdressing industry massively. There were some positives that came from lockdown as many hairdressers were offering online training free and this drove my passion and ambition to another level. I couldn’t wait to get back to the salon and have clients in the chair.
What makes your business different to others in the same area/field? What sets your business apart from your competitors?
The only thing that makes my business different to others in the area is me. Northwich has so many talented hairdressers and there is a good community feel. We recommend each other and genuinely want everyone to do well. When it comes to your hairdresser, you stick with the person that understands you professionally and personally and gives you confidence once your appointment has finished.

Why do loyal clients return to your business?
My clients are always happy when they leave the salon – they know they receive good value for money good value and, of course, they like and trust me.
What’s next? What do the next few months hold for you and your salon?
Growth! I’m always learning and will continue to do so. I have a new treatment being launched in the next couple of months, which is exciting.
