POLICE are investigating after youths were found to have gained entry to a former bingo hall in Winsford and started a ‘small fire’.
Fire crews were called to Winsford Drill Hall in Dingle Lane on Friday evening after a fire was started in the building.
Cheshire Police are now investigating the incident.
The arson comes almost two years since a devastating fire ripped through the former bingo hall in February 2021.
At its height, eight fire engines were dealing with the blaze, while nearby residents had to be evacuated.
Two teenagers accused of the arson had all charges against them dropped in May last year.
A spokesperson for Cheshire Police confirmed: “At 7.12pm on Friday, January 20, police were made aware of a fire at a former bingo hall on Dingle Lane, Winsford.
“Officers attended and found that a number of youths had gained entry to the derelict building and started a small fire.
“Firefighters extinguished the fire and the building has now been secured.
“Four boys, aged 14 and 15, were found at the scene, officers have taken their details and enquiries are ongoing.”
