Tell me a bit about your salon/business
I offer all aspects of female hairdressing from curly blow dries to creative colours and various hair extension methods.
Why did you decide to open your own salon?
I decided to start my own business after working for other people for six years. I wanted to grow as a person and be ready for the next step and my parents offered to renovate the garage into a studio. I already had a growing client base which was mainly in Northwich and once I opened customers were always recommending me to family and friends.
What’s your hair and beauty background?
I trained as a hairdresser in Knutsford and then moved to a salon in Middlewich before deciding to go out on my own. I was the winner of the first Best of 2022 awards in the Northwich and Winsford Guardian and was named Cheshire’s Best for Hair 2022.

Why this type of business?
How has the Covid-19 pandemic affected your business?
I opened just before the pandemic and had to shut three times due to lockdowns. Unfortunately, I had to find alternative work as I wasn’t eligible for help during the first lockdown due to the short time I’d be open. I worked for The Hut Group in customer service and then for NHS Track and Trace.
What makes your business different to others in the same area/field? What sets your business apart from your competitors?
I work solely on a one to one basis with my clients in a small but quaint space which is comfortable and welcoming. Often, when people suffer from anxiety or other health issues, they don’t want to be surrounded by lots of hairdressers in a busy salon and they prefer the personal touch. When I won Best for Hair 2022, one of my customers said I was the most hardworking hair queens that she knows, which is fantastic.
Why do loyal clients return to your business?
I have a strong clientele that I am very grateful for and they continue to recommend me and my business. Their support has been invaluable and I wouldn’t be where I am today without them.
