THREE people have been arrested following a police chase which saw armed officers, dogs and a helicopter deployed.

The pursuit occurred on Thursday morning, January 12, with one suspect detained by a police dog while attempting to flee the scene.

A quantity of class A drugs was also seized following a stop by Cheshire Police’s Roads and Crime Unit in Hartford.

Officers were supported by Alliance firearms officers, National Police Air Service and Cheshire and North Wales Police Dogs Unit.

A force spokesman said: “At around 10.40am on Thursday, January 12, officers were made aware of a red Ford Fiesta that had previously failed to stop for police in the Gadbrook area on the evening of 11 January.

“Pre-emptive tactics were used on the vehicle, however the car continued and a pursuit took place.

“A short time later, officers from the Roads and Crime Unit, supported by the police helicopter, successfully stopped the vehicle in Hodge Lane, Hartford.

“The driver of the vehicle, an 18-year-old man from Weaverham, attempted to flee but was detained by PD Lex.

“He was subsequently arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of class A drugs, dangerous driving, failing to stop, drug driving, driving with no insurance and driving with no licence.

“Two other occupants in the car, two females also aged 18, were arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of controlled dugs.

“They have since been bailed pending further enquiries.”
