WE may have just waved goodbye to Christmas for another 12 months, but some lucky Winsford community groups are already looking forward to the festive season after winning a stunning artificial Christmas tree.

Winsford Cross Shopping Centre has given back to the community by donating five Christmas trees that were part of its Community Christmas Tree Trail.

The five 7ft artificial trees were installed in Winsford Cross shopping Centre in November, as part of the Create Christmas weekend events, with children invited to create Christmas decorations for them.

They were then placed around the scheme for local people to enjoy.

The management team at Winsford Cross decided that they would like to donate the trees to schools, care homes, charities and community groups in the area, so that they can continue to be used and enjoyed for many years to come in the town.

The shopping centre advertised the initiative on its social media channels asking people to get in touch if they would like one of the snow-covered trees.

Sue Lerczak from the management team at Winsford Cross said: “Christmas trees are expensive, but they bring a lot of joy over the festive season.

“We have seen a wonderful reaction to our Community Christmas Tree Trail in the centre and so we thought, how can we continue to spread this festive spirit in Winsford?

“We had a great response to the social media post on Facebook and I’m delighted that we can gift these great organisations with a stunning tree that will bring pleasure for years to come.”
