A WINSFORD man accused of stalking a woman by sending her abusive messages is set to face trial later this year.
Matthew Burgess, of High Street, appeared at Chester Magistrates Court on November 25 where he pleaded not guilty to multiple offences.
The 34-year-old stands accused of harassing a woman by repeatedly sending her unwanted messages of an abusive nature between August 30 and September 28 of last year.
These alleged offences would also put Burgess in breach of a restraining order imposed on June 1, 2021 - a charge he also denied.
Burgess also pleaded not guilty to a further charge of sending a threatening message to the woman's phone intending to cause distress or anxiety.
This charge relates to an alleged incident on September 26, 2021.
The case was sent to Chester Crown Court for trial, with a date set for December 23.
Burgess was granted bail on the condition he does not contact, directly or indirectly, the woman by any means.
The court heard this order was made 'to prevent interference with witnesses or otherwise obstruct the course of justice and to prevent offending'.
