SEVERAL important roads will close this weekend as Northwich prepares for its main Christmas celebration.
The Christmas Extravaganza will see the town centre filled with activities, including an ice rink, a family fun fair, a free game and selfie zone, Christmas markets and story time sessions.
As evening approaches, the annual school lantern parade will begin at Waitrose and finish on the steps of Barons Square, ahead of the light switch on and firework finale.
Mnay of the activities will take place on roads that are already pedestrianised, with the exception of Meadow Street, which will be closed to traffic from 6am to 8pm on Saturday, November 26.
Bewteen 4.30pm and 5.30pm, London Road from the entrance to Waitrose car park to the Bull Ring will also be closed, to make way for the school lantern parade.
Announcing the road closures on social media, Winnington and Castle Police said: "This Saturday, November 26, it is Northwich Christmas Extravaganza.
"Meadow Street will be closed from 6am to 8pm
"London Road from Waitrose towards the Bullring will be closed between 4.30pm-5.30pm.
"Please make alternative arrangements when travelling into Northwich on Saturday."
