Two groups of local Scouts have shown off their talents and secured a place in the Cheshire Scouts County Competition.
It comes after 43 scouts from six scout troops took part in the Mid-Cheshire District Scout Patrol Challenge competition, held at Forest Camp Scout Activity Centre near Sandiway.
The winning troop were from 1st Over St Johns Scouts, with a group from 1st Hartford Scouts coming second.
Both will now take part in the county competition in Spring 2023, with a chance to progress on to regional finals.
Other Mid-Cheshire troops involved in the Patrol Challenge Day were Antrobus and Comberbach, Davenham, Middlewich, and St Wilfrids.
Each team had between four and six scouts with an average age of 13. The tasks, spread over seven bases, included traditional scout skills like map reading and pitching tents, problem solving, creating knots, and marks were also available for teamwork.
Competition organiser Mike Gerrard, who is assistant district commissioner for Mid-Cheshire Scouts, said: “This is what scouting is about: Learning to work together in teams to achieve goals, solve problems and to have fun.
“Every scout had a smile on their face and put their all into each activity. It is a great credit to their leaders who voluntarily give so much time to teach young people new skills and work together.
“Without them, and the support from parents, scouting could not flourish as it does in Mid-Cheshire. A big well done to all the troops who participated in the event.”
Assistant county commissioner for Cheshire Scouts, Charly O’Brien, said: “It is fantastic to see scouts turning out and participating in this competition and all doing so well and more importantly enjoying themselves.”
