A MAN was checked by paramedics after wooden decking caught fire at a pub in Winsford.
Firefighters were called to The Old Star on Swanlow Lane shortly after 1pm today, Thursday.
A spokesman for Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “The cause of the fire was thought to have been electrical and was located on the decking of the outside area.”
The fire involved wooden seating on a balcony outside the pub.
Firefighters used a hose reel jet to put out the fire.
Crews then monitored the area to check for further fire that may have spread.
A man was checked over by paramedics.
A spokesman for North West Ambulance NHS Trust said: “We sent one ambulance and assessed the patient on scene.
“There were no injuries sustained and therefore we did not take him to hospital.”
Firefighters isolated the electrics and dampened down the area.
Winsford Cllr Mandy Clare raised the alarm.
The Winsford Dene councillor said: "I saw it as I was driving past and called the Fire Brigade.
"The staff had already started getting everyone out and a call already logged.
"Some tradesmen kept it under control whilst we waited for the Fire Brigade to arrive.
"Everyone is safe and the fire was extinguished quickly.
"Best wishes to all the staff, the residents and to Ernie.
"Many thanks to the Fire Brigade for a speedy response."
Firefighters say the cause was determined to be accidental.
Three fire engines from Middlewich, Northwich and Nantwich dealt with the incident.
